Phase I, II and III Environmental Site Assessments
Former Jet Fuel Refinery
SES Environmental completed a Phase I
environmental site assessment for a closed petroleum
refinery located in New Haven, Indiana. The refinery
operations included three facilities. The main
refinery complex included processing areas and a
large bulk product storage area. The other two
facilities were located in Auburn and Huntington,
Indiana. These facilities included bulk oil storage.
The three facilities were intra-connected via
underground pipelines.
The Phase I ESA was conducted for a potential
real estate acquisition. The Phase I ESA separately
evaluated each of the three facilities as well as
the connecting pipelines. The assessment included a
review of the facility RCRA status, a review of
Federal, State and local government records, a
detailed facility walk-through, and interviews with
regulatory personnel and private citizens regarding
past operational history.
Multi-Facility / Multi-State
SES recently assisted a national lending
institution with expedited environmental
due-diligence involving a multi-million dollar
business asset transfer. The transfer consisted of
eight warehousing facilities located throughout
Indiana and Illinois. A Phase I Environmental Site
Assessment was completed for each facility. All
eight reports were delivered in 14 days, and
significantly under budget.
Multi-Facility / Indiana
SES assisted a large Midwest fuel and convenience
store chain with the acquisition of thirty-six (36),
new facilities across northern Indiana. The project
involved assessing potential risk, prioritizing
sites, determining the level of recommended inquiry,
then executing either an ASTM Site Screening, a
Phase I Environmental Site Assessment or a limited
Phase II Investigation.
